A Year ago – before the 1st March 2010 – as soon as my eyes were open, I would be reaching for ‘the bottle’ or a can… whichever was the closest. I had to start my day with alcohol, just to function normally. I tried to avoid looking in the mirror as it only depressed me more, I was a fat slob with no motivation or interest in anything.
I would then go into the kitchen and take a handful of prescribed drugs for my decaying body, and wash it down with more alcohol. I would curse the medication because it didn’t seem to help me feel better.
I was thoroughly depressed with my life, and, having to hide the intensity of my addiction from my family. One day I just decided things have got to change. It was the day that I had planned to take my life. I began writing letters for my girls and made sure no one would be in the house. My plans were all changed when my daughter walked in on me half way through my plans. I won’t go into details at this time about that… only that my daughter stopped me, it was an extremely emotional evening. I love her so much. After this revelation, I contacted Anthony and told him I wanted to change my life.
Since that day he has been supporting me and been a tower of strength. Firstly he started me on a healthy eating regime, and gradually replaced my medication with vitamins and supplements. One month later, with Anthony’s encouragement, I stopped drinking alcohol. Within 2 months I had lost one stone in weight (14 pounds) and began to feel fit/healthy and more importantly – ALIVE!
Its coming up to my one year anniversary (1st March) and I have lost 4 1/2 stones (63 pounds) and look and feel a totally different person.
